Ovi Store Game: Hunter Man Review

Hunter Man is an animal hunting game of fast fingers and faster reactions. It's one of those Nokia Ovi Store games that takes a simple concept and makes it work irresistibly on touchscreen handsets. Is it worth the bother of downloading? Find out in our Hunter Man review.

As games go, Hunter Man is as simple as they come - simply tap on the animals that appear on screen as quickly as possible to score points.

There is some method here - thanks to a number of levels of increasing difficulty. The first requires 20 points to clear, then 50 points, then 60, then 100 points, and so on within the allocated time limit.

By the fifth level things get a little trickier. The first levels aren't a challenge, but you'll need to be on your fingertips here, as humans get thrown into the equation too. Tap one of them by accident and you'll dent your score with minus points. The animals appear and disappear much quicker by this stage onwards. Just getting the required points to move onto the next stage calls for some furious finger-bashing. We were pleased with the responsiveness of the touch controls when playing Hunter Man using a Nokia X6.

Clean presentation and charming, colourful graphics lend a pleasant experience to Hunter Man that should appeal mostly to younger users. It's a fun game for older players too, but for anyone over 16, That Roach Game SEA is a better, less cartoony alternative.

That said, Hunter Man is a delightful Ovi Store game perfectly capable of lasting your short tube, train or bus journey. There are better alternatives available, but Hunter Man at least does a decent job of keeping you entertained for a while.
