On first glance you’d be forgiven for thinking it was just another candybar budget phone but the truth is in in the name – Touch and Type, as the 2.4-inch screen is touch-sensitive so you can interact with the Nokia X3-02 Touch and Type whichever way you find most appealing.

OK, the body is made from plastic and we have to admit that getting the backplate to initially sit in place was a problem. However, what the Nokia X3-02 Touch and Type has in its favour is a great feel in the hand. The slightly tapered body and slim design means it just nestles comfortably. What’s more, it feels touch as old boots and certainly tough enough to survive being treated roughly or even accidently dropped a few times.

Being a candybar feature phone, the Nokia X3-02 Touch and Type comes with a standard numeric keypad, making it ideal for anyone who has lightning quick fingers for firing off texts and other social messages. However, for those who are used to touchscreen display the 2.4-inch resistive panel means you can tap away in the most appealing method to you. Press the lock button on the side, tap the Unlock button on the screen and you have instant access to all your apps and files.

5-Megapixel Camera on Nokia X3-02 Touch and Type

A five megapixel camera, with a 4x digital zoom, full focus and noise reduction, self-timer and settings for white balance and colour tone is up there with some of the best Nokia smartphone cameras around. Nothing more really need be said, other than you won’t find this level of tech in rival devices at this price point, think of it as a gift from Nokia.

Wi-Fi on the Nokia X3-02 Touch and Type was not expected to appear so it came as something of a shock when we found it proudly turning up on our Nokia X3-02 Touch and Type feature phone. It means getting access to the Nokia Ovi Store, or even software updates, won’t tap into your monthly allowance. We’ve found it to be quick and able and like the 5-Megapixel camera is a great feature that entry-level devices tend not to have.

If you like buttons then fear not as we love what the Nokia X3-02 Touch and Type has to offer. Being a music phone, on the front you’ll find a dedicated key to give you instant access to your music. In practise this works really well and gives the Nokia X3-02 Touch and Type that MP3 player approach a great music phone should have. Alongside it you’ll find a button for instant access to your messages. The keypad itself is a good size and the standard 12-button three row approach works well. Overall, the Nokia X3-02 Touch and Type is an easy feature phone to use.
