The Nokia C5-03 is the latest Symbian S60 5th Edition smartphone to hit the stands and makes a cracking upgrade for anyone currently using a Nokia 5230, or even a Nokia X6. This touchscreen smartphone comes with a nice rounded design and even packs in the Lock button found on the Nokia X3-02. The Nokia C5-03 is a completely different handset to the existing Nokia C5 – a traditional candybar handset. With the brand spanking new Nokia C5-03, you’ll get a touchscreen display, that measures in at a highly usable 3.2 inches, the Symbian S60 5th Edition operating system and even a 5-Megapixel CCD camera.

If you're currently using a Nokia 5800, you'll find the Nokia C5-03 has a slightly smaller and definitely more rounded feel to it. The buttons have been reworked too, so you'll find the three function keys sitting on the same slim rocker bar.

Little touches and flourishes also abound. We like the Lock button, which you press then push the screen to activate. This method is so less much quicker than the standard lock, such as on the Nokia X6. Then there is the new slim-line charger that comes supplied – the top prong packs away when not in use, so making for a tighter profile, making it ideal for those who need to carry a charger on trips with them.

You’ll find GPS on the Nokia C5-03, and with Ovi Maps pre-installed you’ll be able to use this compact touchscreen device as a replacement for your stand-alone sat-nav. Now, we've only had a chance to play with it for a little while, so the verdicts still out on whether this is a great handset or not but we're certainly impressed with the first initial play.
