The Nokia Digital Headset DAB (CU-17A) does exactly what it says on the tin – it’s a headset that delivers DAB radio to your Nokia N8, Nokia C7 or Nokia C6-01 without you having to worry too much about setting it up. Check out our Nokia Digital Headset DAB (CU-17A) review for more details.

The Nokia Digital Headset DAB (CU-17A) looks just like any other inline controller. OK, it may be a little larger than the average volume and in-call control but not by much. At one end you’ll find a jack that slots right into the USB port of the Nokia N8, Nokia C7 or Nokia C6-01, while at the other is the DAB radio itself.

In terms of controls, the Nokia Digital Headset DAB (CU-17A) comes with an in-coming call button and volume controls on the side, while on the main body there are Back/Forward buttons for your music player, as well as a single On/Off. The big change is the addition of a dedicated DAB button – press this and you can switch from music player to radio. On the top is a 3.5mm jack socket for the supplied in-ear headphones.

A small clip on the back of the Nokia Digital Headset DAB (CU-17A) means you can attach it to your lapel or jacket pocket as you would any other control. It’s a neat and compact design and certainly feels sturdy enough.

As soon as you plug the Nokia Digital Headset DAB (CU-17A) your Nokia N8 will start scanning for channels. This only happens the first time and once you’ve a list gathered you can easily use the onscreen controls to switch between them. If you’re not looking for a specific channel, the Back/Forward buttons also double up as scrolling through radio stations.

When it comes to audio quality, the signal is as good as you’ll find from any DAB radio controller, with our Nokia N8 sounding nice and bassy. Plenty of mid-tones are evident too, giving music a nice depth to it.

DAB radio is one of those things that once you have access to there is no real going back and with the simplicity of the Nokia Digital Headset DAB (CU-17A), it makes setting up and making the most of it easier than ever. Overall, we’re really impressed with what the Nokia Digital Headset DAB (CU-17A) has to offer.

The Nokia Digital Headset DAB (CU-17A) costs £45 (inc. VAT) and you can get your hand son it from Nokia Online.
