Read on to check out our Nokia Bicycle Charger Kit hands-on review…

The Nokia Bicycle Charger Kit (DC-14) consists of a phone holder, to pin your Nokia device to the bike, a bottle dynamo to take the motion of your bicycle and create a charge, and a charger that converts your peddling and zaps the energy into your phone. You’ll find it’s compatible with any Nokia device that uses a standard 2mm charging connector.

The components of the Nokia Bicycle Charger Kit are of good quality and feel as though they’ll reassuring survive against the elements. We've been assured that it's dust proof as well as rain proof, which is good news as we expect this device will get some heavy treatment

Charging with the Nokia Bicycle Charger Kit starts as soon as you start cycling at a speed greater than 6km/h, which is the same pace as the average person walking. If you get up to 12km/h you’re effectively pumping as much juice into the charger as though it were plugged in to mains power, so you can see how effective this charger can be.

This being the middle of the winter and it not having stopped raining for the last four days, we’ve not had a chance to get our bike out and see how the Nokia Bicycle Charger Kit works in the real world. However, as soon as we get a chance, we will be doing so and will bring you a full review then.

The Nokia Bicycle Charger Kit costs £25 (inc. VAT) and can be bought from Nokia Online.

I bought this a few days ago, and it worked fine on a friends old nokia phone, however I could not get it to work on my N8 model even though the Nokia website states that is is compatible with it.

The reason it would not work on my N8, after speaking to Nokia, they told me I have to cycle over 30mph for it to start charging. Who cycles at 30mph? Nokia told me it starts charging relative to the phone, so all smart phones are useless for this. Don’t bother with this at all.
