The Nokia N8 is one of the most capable smartphones we've seen, but all those features are useless if you've been out and about for a day or two and the battery is running down. One of the easiest ways to save power without turning the features off is to dim the display.
Click the Menu button, followed by Settings. Then click Phone, followed by Display. Click on Light Sensor, and slight the bar to the left to dim the display and improve your battery life.
While you have this screen open, you can also change the amount of time it takes before the screen turns off after you've last pressed anything. The less time it takes, the less power you'll be using, and the better your battery life will be.
