Both the Nokia C6 and the Nokia C6-01 are mid-range smartphones, and both offer loads of features for your money. However, what's the difference between the older model – the Nokia C6, and the newer model – the Nokia C6-01? Join us after the break to find out...

The Nokia C6-01 and the Nokia C6 may share very similar names, but they're completely different phones. To see the main differences, read on.

Size

While the original Nokia C6 is quite a large smartphone – in order to house the excellent QWERTY keypad, the Nokia C6-01 is one of the most compact handsets we've seen in recent months.

Quality

We were impressed with the Nokia C6 when it first came out, with the large keypad offering one of the most robust typing actions around. It simply can't match the quality of the Nokia C6-01, however, which feels every bit the high-end handset, even if it does come with an affordable price tag.

Screen

Both the Nokia C6 and the Nokia C6-01 feature 3.2-inch screens, but the Nokia C6-01 moves the game on. As well as featuring AMOLED technology, the Nokia C6-01 also gets Nokia's new CBD (ClearBlack Display) technology, offering stunningly vibrant colours, and it's currently the only Nokia on sale to feature CBD.

Operating system

The Nokia C6 features the Symbian S60 5th Edition operating system – an OS that's been around for a couple of years now. Going one better, the Nokia C6-01 features the latest Symbian ^3 OS, offering a smoother and faster interface coupled with more features.

Pinch to zoom

Along with the new OS, the Nokia C6-01 gets plenty of other features over the Nokia C6. There's pinch to zoom technology, for a start, letting you pinch your finger and thumb together to zoom into photographs and webpages with ease.

QWERTY keyboard

The Nokia C6 is perhaps the better choice if you're a frequent texter, or like to email on the move. That's because it features a large and comfortable QWERTY keyboard, which slides out from under the screen. The Nokia C6-01 relies entirely on touchscreen technology, so you'll have to use an onscreen keyboard to type.

USB on the go

The Nokia C6-01 gets Nokia's USB on the go technology, again offering a new feature over the Nokia C6. USB on the go means you'll be able to access, copy and save files to a regular USB memory stick – all from your new Nokia C6-01.

8-Megapixel camera

The Nokia C6 gets a thoroughly decent 5-Megapixel camera, adding value to an already impressive package. Once again, the Nokia C6-01 goes one better, however, boasting an 8-Megapixel snapper with full focus technology.

Angry Birds

Up until the Nokia N8 and Symbian ^3, Angry Birds had never been released for Symbian. You can now get various Angry Birds games for your Nokia C6-01, and they'll keep you addicted for hours! Unfortunately, Angry Birds isn't available for your Nokia C6.

Multiple home screens

The Nokia C6-01 is the handset of choice when it comes to customising your home screen. Unlike the Nokia C6, the Nokia C6-01 features three completely different home screens – and you can put shortcuts to any of your apps or web pages on any of them. There are loads of widgets available too, from weather updates to calendars to text message and notification previews.
