The Soundtrack to London is the perfect app for music lovers, whatever type of tunes you're interested in. With information provided by the Museum of London, it gives a fascinating insight into the history of music in England's capital city.

At 5.2MB, it's one of the larger apps currently on the Ovi Store, so you'll be wanting to use a Wi-Fi connection if you're on a limited data plan or in a rush to download.

Open the app, and the first thing you'll see is a coloured map of London – the centre, north, south, east and west. The app suggests that you pick one of these to get started, although other options include Nearest, Artists and a Search function.

As soon as you click on an area, you'll be given a list in alphabetical order of all the historically significant clubs, bars and even houses (Bob Marley's home, for instance!). Click on one, and you'll be offered a lot more information – you'll even be able to play music from bands that visited the locations, or buy relevant music from the Ovi Store.

Click on Nearest, and you'll be able to take advantage of the GPS chip in your Nokia, along with mapping, to offer details of the nearest pubs, clubs and more.

You can click on Artists, to find out where bands have played, and once again you'll be able to find out more details of the venues or play related songs.

You can also search by any of the above, with the ability to search for locations proving particularly handy. Overall, the Soundtrack to London is an unusual app, in that it's both very interesting and particularly useful. You can easily spend time just reading up on venues and music in London, or you can use it as a resource to find nearby venues the next time you want to head out.
