The Nokia N8 is the top of the food chain in terms of top tech and innovation at Nokia right now. Meanwhile, the Nokia C5-03 is the latest smartphone to run the Symbian S60 5th Edition operating system. Let’s get the obvious out of the way, the Nokia C5-03 is never going to win against the Nokia N8 in a fair fight, it’s a bit like asking Tomb Thumb to fetch you something off the top shelf, it’s just not going to happen.

However, we thought it would be a good idea to show you the Nokia C5-03 alongside the Nokia N8 as a great example of how Nokia designs smartphones for quite specific market segments – you won’t be finding any ‘one size fits all’ solutions around here, thank you.

The Nokia C5-03 uses a 3.2-inch resistive touchscreen, while the Nokia N8 comes with a sparklingly good 3.5-inch AMOLED capacitive touchscreen display. Add to this the move to the Symbian^3 operating system and the usability on the Nokia N8 outweighs what you can do with the Nokia C5-03.

That said, the Nokia C5-03 is half the price of the Nokia N8 so for its target market, the entry-level smartphone user, we’ve found it more than usable. The screen is nice and bright and while you need to give it a solid poke when messaging, getting apps to load and run has been no trouble at all.

We know the Nokia N8 is all about the 12-Megapixel camera, but the 5-Megapixel CCD on the Nokia C5-03 is decent enough for catching casual snaps. That said, while you can make serious money from your Nokia N8 as a professional photographer, we’re not expecting the same level of commitment from the Nokia C5-03.
