The Nokia C5-03 and Nokia C3-01 Touch and Type have very little in common, other than both come with a resistive touchscreen display and look fantastic. We thought it would be fun to show them side-by-side to show how Nokia designs devices for specific markets and doesn’t rely on a ‘one size fits all’ strategy used by some other companies. Check out what the Nokia C5-03 and Nokia C3-01 Touch and Type have to offer.

The Nokia C5-03 is the rather nifty new 3.2-inch smartphone from Nokia, running the Symbian S60 5th Edition operating system and is all about the touchscreen. There are three small buttons set in a strip bar under the screen but other than this, everything you do is focussed on the screen.

In comparison, the Nokia C3-01 Touch and Type offers the best of both worlds as you can use the 2.4-inch touchscreen to tap into apps but then there is the 12 button keypad to allow you to fire out texts and predictive messages with ease. It’s that choice Nokia offers that makes every device special to its owner. Using the touchscreen to tap and scroll through menus soon becomes second nature, and the lack of navigation buttons on the Nokia C3-01 Touch and Type is never an issue.

The Nokia C3-01 Touch and Type runs the Nokia S40 (6th Edition) operating system, which is great for feature phones as it comes with the everyday apps you’ll appreciate, while the Nokia C5-03 and the Symbian S60 5th Edition is something of a step-up, offering thousands of extra apps and features, such as Ovi Maps and Ovi Chat.

Nokia C3-10 Touch and Type Things We Love

It’s worth bearing in mind that the Nokia C3-01 Touch and Type costs just £149 (inc. VAT) SIM free, while the Nokia C5-03 comes in at £189 (inc. VAT), so there is a price difference but what you get for your money is marked too. For example, both come with a 5-Megapixel camera, but the Nokia C5-03 has the edge by being able to handle video far more effectively.

The Nokia C3-01 Touch and Type is a great entry-level device for those with pretty basic needs but if you’re wondering what it would be like to step up the food chain, then check out what the Nokia C5-03 looks like alongside the Nokia C3-01 Touch and Type.

With the latest plastic resistive touch screens being so good with taps and swipes now, why not add a number pad for text lovers to the C5-03, thereby doing away with wasted screen space for visual menu buttons. Number pad is dual purpose 1) rapid fire texts & 2) replaces the old style D pad saving on screen space with menu options etc. An instant product with no big development money required…..
