We've been getting to grips with the Nokia C6-01 over the past couple of months, and Nokia's new baby is turning out to be a cracking all-rounder. In addition to excellent quality, features and a compact design, it's also turning out to be a great gaming device. Join us after the break for our Nokia C6-01 gaming review...

As with other Symbian ^3 phones – such as the Nokia N8 and Nokia C7 – Angry Birds is available to download from the Ovi Store. It's one of the apps that we recommend putting on your Nokia C6-01 before anything else, and it's one of the most addictive games we've ever set eyes on.

Angry Birds may not test the Nokia C6-01 to its full capacity when it comes to graphics, but it still looks brilliant, with witty scene layouts, appealing characters and lots of colour.

It also runs incredibly smoothly, with no sign of lag when you're flinging the birds, and instant responses to your touch, Now Angry Birds is also available for free from the Ovi Store, it's well worth a look.

If you're looking for 3D games, check out Real Soccer 2010 HD. This title first debuted on the Nokia N8, but is every bit as impressive on the Nokia C6-01. The smaller screen makes players and stadiums look even sharper than ever, with colours brought vividly to life courtesy of the Nokia C6-01's CBD (ClearBlack Display) screen technology.

James Cameron's Avatar HD is also another stunning title that shows off the Nokia C6-01's graphics chip to the best of its abilities. With 3D action throughout, it's completely addictive, looks fantastic, and helps to turn the Nokia C6-01 into a mobile gaming platform.

It's not just the graphics where the Nokia C6-01 excels, either. Games like Real Soccer 2010 HD and James Cameron's Avatar HD show that you can play action-packed thrillers at high speeds, without the need for proper hardware buttons. Multi-touch technology means you'll have no trouble pressing a couple of onscreen buttons simultaneously on the Nokia C6-01, and we always found the controls responsive and well measured.

We'll be bringing you more Nokia C6-01 games over the next few weeks and months, but needless to say this smartphone is an excellent gaming device. It may not have any hardware buttons – like N-Gage Nokia devices of old – but with a sensitive capacitive touchscreen and great onscreen controls, it really doesn't need them.
