The Nokia N8 has come in for a quick and easy update that makes the Search function on your Symbian^3 smartphone smoother and easier to use. This small update isn’t part of any firmware update, instead effects the Search widget on the Nokia N8. Read on to find out more about the Nokia N8 Quick Search update.

We were carrying out a routine check of all things update related on the Nokia N8 recently and noticed that a new update, Quick Search had popped up in the Software Update app. Weighing in at 1267kb, this little egg of newness is quick and easy to install but it adds quick an interesting array of features to the Search Widget.

For instance, you’ll find that search history suggestions have been added, as well as faster access to a variety of search engines. We have the Search icon on one of our Homescreens on the Nokia N8 and as you can see from the photos below it allows you to type in what you’re looking for and then choose either to web browse or look through your device for the relevant information.

In this way you can just as quickly look up a website as you can the contents of your Photo or Video albums. If you choose to look online, the web browser instantly fires into life and you’re away. If you’re looking for content on your Nokia N8 then you can carry out a random sweep or take into My Content where the Search icon allows you to look through folders more quickly.

The Quick Search update isn’t going to revolutionise the way you use your Nokia N8 but it simply makes finding things a little quicker and a little easier.
