Along with offering fully customisable ring tones, you can also set your Nokia N8 to state the name of the caller whenever your phone rings. With this feature turned on, you'll know who's ringing before you even take the phone out of your pocket. Join us after the cut, where we'll be telling you how to set your Nokia N8 to say the caller's name...
Ever wondered who's calling when your Nokia N8 rings? Along with other options - such as choosing individual ring tones for different callers (we'll be bringing you a tutorial on that soon, keep an eye on our Nokia N8 Ultimate User Guide) - you can also make your Nokia N8 say the name of the caller whenever it rings.
To get started, press the menu button, and tap Settings. Then head over to the Profiles page, and click the profile you want to incorporate the caller's name into. You can add the feature to one or more profiles, or turn it off completely. Click Personalise once you've selected the profile.
Scroll down until you see 'Say caller's name', and tap this option. Then select On. Click Back to exit the profiles page. From now on, whenever anybody rings and you have that profile selected, your Nokia N8 will also say the caller's name intermittently, along with playing your chosen ring tone.
The feature works best with single names – it can struggle to pronounce unusual surnames correctly, and names with initials in can also sound hurried. Either way, you'll soon recognise all your contacts, and it means you'll know who's calling before you even look at your phone.
