Cowboys & Aliens is directed by Jon Favreau, one time actor now turned big shot movie director, who already has Iron Man, Iron Man 2 and Zathura: A Space Adventure to his credit, which makes him the prime choice for this genre melting pot.

The plot sounds like a belter, as a spaceship arrives in Arizona, 1873, to take over the Earth, starting with the Wild West. Now, this isn’t the wikki wah wah wild west of Will Smith but a heaving and sighing grumpy take on the Wild West led by Harrison Ford playing a rather grumpy town. It’s his job to round up the posse of cowboys to go up against the invading aliens.

It kind of helps that with Daniel Craig stepping up as the lead character having some weird alien gizmo-cum-weapon strapped to his wrist that the humans may just stand a chance, if they don’t kill him first!

We downloaded the Cowboys & Aliens trailer onto our Nokia N8 and have to admit that the movie looks pretty dark. This is largely due to most of the clips being based at night. The day scenes looked good and the sound effects sound pretty nifty.

We’re really looking forward to this film. Sure, the premise sounds a little creaky but it looks like it’s going to be one hell of a blast finding out what happens!
