The Nokia E7 Symbian^3 smartphone with QWERTY keyboard has come in for a Firmware Update to version PR1.1. This isn't a major update, rather it's a tweak and a slight overhaul of the engine room to sort out a few minor niggles and streamline the Symbian^3 operating system. Read on to find out more about the Nokia E7 Firmware PR1.1 Update.

The Nokia E7 Firmware Update PR1.1 has been released to solve a number of synchronisation issues that have cropped in up the OS, especially those using Mail for Exchange on MS Server 2010.

Check out our Nokia E7 hands-on preview

If you're not using Mail for Exchange you'll still want to get your hands on the Nokia E7 Firmware PR1.1 Update as it comes with a couple of more every-day app updates, in the form of a new version of Ovi Store as well as a new version of Ovi Maps (SR6).

The Ovi Store client looks like being the version already independently rolled out for Symbian^3 last week, while the Ovi Maps (SR6) update comes with added real-time traffic updates, safety alerts, visibility to parking and petrol stations, speed limit warnings, and improved search and location sharing capabilities, which all sounds pretty good to us.

The Nokia E7 Firmware Update PR1.1 isn't an essential update, Nokia is referring to it as a voluntary update but we reckon any update that streamlines performance is a good thing, right? To get ahold of it go to Go to Applications > Software update or Applications-> Tools –> Software update on your Nokia E7 and download the update there over the air. You can use Wi-Fi to avoid any additional data costs.

It’s also possible to update software via Ovi Suite. As with all updates these will start to appear by build date, so it make takes a few days to roll out around the world. If you don't get the update straight away, like us, then simply check back on a daily basis until it pops up.
