Drums Challenge is a great game for the Nokia N8 as it makes the most of its 3.5-inch touchscreen and the rather booming impact of the built-in speakers. They always say the wild man of any band is the drummer so let out your inner madman with Drums Challenge on the Nokia N8.
‘That ain’t no garbage truck, baby, that’s the sound of Slam Thunderhide!’ is a line that could have been written especially for Drums Challenge, which is the latest in a growing line of games that make the most of the Nokia N8 both in terms of graphics but also touch appeal.

Drums Challenge follows in the path of games like Guitar Hero where you need to keep path with the tune by tapping icons on the screen. As you’d expect from the title, rather than being aimed at the flash guy waving his gee-tar around at the front of the stage, Drum Challenge is all about the tub thumper at the back of the band keeping the rhythm tight.
And keeping the rhythm tight is essentially the aim of the game as each level presents you with a rhythm to play along with. Playing drums is a lot trickier than its guitar counterpart as you need to move around the screen and the various parts of the kit rather than sliding between four buttons along the bottom.
The graphics in this type of game don’t need to be too taxing as the kit is stationary for most of the time, except when it’s being highlighted but it still looks good. Colours are bright and the overall effect is solid. Each type of music has its own feel and lead-in character, which give Drums Challenge a nice overall attitude.
The sound quality of Drums Challenge on the Nokia N8 is amazing, with a thumping backing track and even the drums have plenty of bass and bounce to them, so whether you’re feeling the Blues or getting all hair metal on the back of the bus you can tell there is a definite shift in feel and tempo.
