Nokia's phones are known for their good cameras, and the stunning 12-megapixel snapper on the Nokia N8 is arguably the best of them all. But a new project from Jason Hawkes has taken the Nokia N8's photo-taking abilities to new heights – quite literally. Join us after the cut to check out the Nokia N8 HD Horizons project.
The Nokia N8 has proved itself one of the top cameraphones on the market time and again, but we've never come across one – or any other phone, for that matter – that's been pressed into use for aerial photography.

But that's exactly what Hawkes has set out to do with the HD Horizons project, snapping a series of shots of some of the UK's best-known spots from a bird's eye view using nothing more than the Nokia N8.
You can see them for yourself on the HD Horizons Facebook page. There are already half a dozen great shots of iconic UK locations like Blackpool and the Ribblehead Viaduct.
New images are being added regularly, though, and you're encouraged to check in daily to see the latest of Hawkes' shots.
When we spoke to Jason recently, he told us that the Nokia N8 is “definitely as good as a compact camera”, delivering amazing results that far outstripped the photographer's expectations. “I didn’t realise it was all going to be possible, or that we were going to get such good, clean images,” he said.
It's just the latest endorsement of the Nokia N8's fantastic camera prowess. What do you think – is the Nokia N8 the best cameraphone money can buy? Give us your thoughts in the Comments below.
