The Nokia N8 has been taking up plenty of our time of late but with the arrival of the super-messenger that is the Nokia E7 allegiances are started to be tested. We know they have a similar design DNA but how much do the Nokia N8 and Nokia E7 differ? Find out as we slap them both in front of the camera for you to find out.

The Nokia N8 was the first major Symbian^3 smartphone and with its 12-Megapixel camera it is very much the king of the roost in terms of photo tech. However, the Nokia E7 with its larger screen and dedicated QWERTY keyboard isn't easy to ignore. Here we look at the major differences of the two killer smartphones before we letting you feast your eyes on our photo gallery.

Nokia E7

The Nokia E7 comes with a 4-inch touchscreen display, which is the biggest such screen on any Nokia smartphone to-date. The fact the AMOLED screen also comes with Nokia ClearBlack Display (CBD) technology means it's the sharpest image whether you're hiding away in doors or using the Nokia E7 out side.

When it comes to other features, you'll find 16GB of internal memory but no microSD card slot but there is HDMI for hooking up to your HD TV. That's great, as it means you'll be able to make the most of the 720p video recording as well as the 8-Megapixel camera with dual-LED Flash. So, while it may not have the same multimedia chops as the Nokia N8, this smartphone is more than capable of looking after itself. Check out the full Nokia E7 hands-on preview

OK, we have to admit we've kind of fallen for the 4-inch screen on the Nokia E7 but that's not to casually dismiss the 3.5-inch variant on the Nokia N8. It's big, bright and is easy to use. It also makes an amazing viewfinder for the 12-Megapixel camera, as well as using with the built-in GPS receiver. Check out the Nokia N8 Review Roundup

Of course, when you slide open the QWERTY keyboard on the Nokia E7 it's something of a game changer as suddenly texting and firing off lengthy emails gives the Nokia E7 the edge over the Nokia N8. Also this in a body that isn't that much bigger (as the images below attest to).

Whether you're opting for the Nokia E7 or the Nokia N8 you'll find they've been finely crafted to suit their preferred user in mind – none of this 'one size fits all' and let's see what we can get away with leaving out that some others out there opt for.

So, check out the images on the Nokia E7 and Nokia N8 below and let us know what you think of each in the Comments below.

The camera on the E7 is EDOF not CCD. Big difference.

I THINK THE N8 IS MUCH TOO BETTER BECAUSE IT HAVE 12 MEGAPIXEL CAMERA WITH XENON FLASH LIGHT AND WITH MICRO SD SLOT WHEREAS E7 DOESNT A=HAVE A MICRO SD SLOT WHICH IS A HUGE LAPSE COZ FOR THOSE OF US WANT TO EXTEND TO 32G. JUST GO FOR N8 I THINK IS BETTER

  • Khrysstopha

    Does the n8 have qwerty?

  • Mikey Bee

@Khrysstopha – The Nokia N8 comes with a landscape onscreen QWERTY. We’ve hoping for Portrait QWERTY with the next software update. Hope that helps.
