We know, the Nokia X7 and Nokia N8 don’t have that much in common when you look at the spec sheets but both are leading media machines. The Nokia N8 has swept away all in its path, both in terms of style and tech and we’re pretty much expecting the same of the Nokia X7 when it ships in the next couple of months. As we said in our intro, these devices are both media machines but with quite different users in mind.

In this age where too many smartphones are simple little black boxes both the Nokia N8 and Nokia X7 stand out from the crowd. The full-metal jacket and glass front give them both a chic finish. However, the Nokia X7 clearly wears its design credentials on its sleeve, mixing both a retro and futuristic style together with ease.
The 4-inch Gorilla glass of Nokia X7 is a touchscreen designed for watching movies and allowing you to get into thick of the action. Sure, the Nokia N8 is pretty neat with its 3.5-inch touchscreen display but in sharpness we reckon the X7 has the edge.
When it comes to creating media, the Nokia N8 still has the edge thanks to the 12-Megapixel camera. In turn, the Nokia X7 uses the same 8-Megapixel EDoF technology used in the Nokia E7 and Nokia E6 smartphones. So while we know it delivers great shots it’s not about appeasing the most critical of happy snappers.
Nokia X7 comes with Symbian Anna already pre-installed, while those of us who already own the Nokia N8 will need to wait a couple of months before its available OTA (Over The Air). In the meantime, the Nokia X7 has a clear performance and usability edge.
