The stunning new Nokia X7 is built to entertain, and for our money it pushes all the right buttons. From its bold design to the overhauled Symbian Anna interface – and not forgetting that superb 4-inch screen – the Nokia X7 is one of the best Nokia smartphones we've seen to date. But what does the rest of the technology press think about it? Let's take a look...

One of the first things that grabs you about the Nokia X7 is its distinctive design, and Pocket-lint wasted no time in making its feelings known after having a play with the new handset: “the striking design takes the angular voice of the N8 to the next logical level, playing on those lines to create a phone that is both curved and sharp, making it stand out from the crowd.”

Engadget took some time to comment on the Nokia X7's stainless steel chassis: “physically, the X7 is a pleasure to hold and to handle, a hallmark of Nokia construction.”

The Nokia X7 fancies itself as a bit of a gaming phone, of course, and Slashgear was happy to give its gaming credentials the thumbs up: “the thought of Nokia and gaming may bring to mind terrible memories of taco-shaped N-Gage, but the X7 looks set to change some opinions.

As for that beautiful 4-inch display with ClearBlackDisplay technology, TechRadar had nothing but praise: “the video playback is pretty sensational, as you might hope – the ClearBlack OLED screen does its jobs admirably at showing high-resolution video.”

As you'd expect, Symbian Anna got plenty of attention too, with all agreeing that the improvements make a real difference to the end user experience on the Nokia X7. “[The] long overdue inclusion of a virtual portrait QWERTY keyboard is much appreciated, as is the real-time home screen scrolling,” Engadget commented.

TechRadar's praise wasn't unreserved, however: “the new Symbian Anna update is, in our opinion, simply a very small [step] in the general direction of where Nokia needs to be going to bring its new phones up to speed in the smartphone wars.”

In the end, though, DailyMobile came closest to summing up our own feelings about Nokia's stunning new X Series flagship: “[the] Nokia X7 is the perfect phone for gaming. The 4-inch AMOLED screen display makes browsing the web, watching videos or gaming a real pleasure.”
