Ovi Maps Challenge is free from the Nokia Ovi Store and is a game that has been put together and published by Nokia.
Ovi Maps Challenge may on the surface sound like something that taps directly into Ovi Maps to help you get around the world a lot easier and in some ways it does. Ovi Maps Challenge is a game that helps you get a better understanding of different countries, from population and capital cities to where some of the more remote countries in the world may actually be.
Ovi Maps Challenge is a great way of testing your general knowledge and is played in two distinct game modes: Action and Quiz.
Action mode allows you to go up against the clock as you have to match flags with their country, or locate the country on a map. The countdown element adds a little pressure as you aim to be your previously set high score. Once you get to grips with this mode you’ll unlock the Quiz element, which is a lot more engrossing, and difficult too.
Quiz mode does away with clock and allows you to spend as much time as possible answering the questions. However, they can be a lot harder, such as placing the right rivers with the right countries, working out populations in different parts of the world and generally getting to grips with the way continents and nations are built up. Being touch-sensitive you tap the screen with your chosen answer and we found the Nokia E7 responded well.
We have to admit that the graphics are a bit basic but they’re big and bold and get the job done. We played Ovi Maps Challenge on our Nokia E7 and the big, bright screen really helps you view this game with ease.
Ovi Maps Challenge is a nice game and the fact that it helps you get a little worldly knowledge can’t be a bad thing. We reckon it makes a nice change from doing the crossword or Sudoku on the train home of an evening and if it helps give you a better understanding of the world in which we all share then all the better!
