Smartphones are hugely popular these days, but sadly that rise in popularity has also meant an increase in viruses, spyware and other online threats specifically targeting the mobile user. Kaspersky Mobile Security 9 is designed to keep you and your Nokia C5-03 protected from these threats. Let's take a look at how it stacks up.
When you first fire up Kaspersky Mobile Security 9, the software will scan your contacts list, messages and other files stored on your Nokia C5-03. You'll also be asked to provide a password to protect your application settings so that should anyone gain access to your phone they won't be able to disable Kaspersky's mobile security blanket.

The main interface is divided into eight tabs, covering Anti-Virus, Privacy Protection, Anti-Theft, Encryption, Anti-Spam, Parental Control, Firewall and finally an Additional tab which contains settings, licence information and a help file.
It's an impressively broad set of protection tools, and you can set them up to suit a wide range of preferences. The basic virus protection enables you to scan messages, files or even specific folders in isolation, and schedule a scan at a specific time.
We specifically liked the Anti-Theft feature, which lets block your Nokia C5-03 remotely from another device through a special SMS command. You can set it up to completely block the phone altogether, or to wipe any data stored on board should it fall into the wrong hands.
You can set up black and whitelists in the spam and parental controls section, and view a log of all the phone's online activity to make sure younger users aren't accessing anything inappropriate.
From an interface point of view, Kaspersky has done a good job of making sure each of Mobile Security 9's many features is easy to access and understand. Our only quibble is that selecting a command or opening up a setting you wish to tweak involves first selecting it, then tapping Select from a menu that pops up. It's a convoluted way of going about things, and means you'll be doing a lot of tapping around on screen even to perform basic tasks.
But we're willing to forgive that considering just how well Kaspersky Mobile Security 9 protects your Nokia C5-03. It's free to try for a month, after which you'll pay £19.99 for a year's cover.
