After a bit of a breathless week last week, what with the launch of the Nokia E6 and Nokia X7, not to mention the arrival of Symbian Anna, the past seven days have given us a chance to catch up with what's been going on in the wider world of Nokia, and as usual we've had plenty to keep us busy! Read on for the highlights in our weekly Nokia Nuggets!
Now that the dust has settled, we've had a chance over the last week to recap on what the Nokia X7 and Nokia E6 bring to Nokia's Symbian^3 line-up, but we've had plenty of other news highlights to mull over, and of course have been hard at work bringing you all the latest app and game reviews and tutorials for your favourite Nokia handsets.
Nokia and NFC
Other mobile manufacturers may only now be getting their heads around Near Field Communication, but Nokia has been a market leader for years now. We look back at its NFC heritage, then look to the future with the news that Nokia is working with Proxama to develop a set of NFC services for the Nokia C7.
10 years of eco innovation
The mobile landscape has changed a lot over the last decade, and few companies have done more to promote eco innovation than Nokia. We look at the measures Nokia has taken to promote environmental responsibility and lead the way in everything from providing recycling centres to cutting out the use of harmful materials in the production process.
Ovi Maps goes 3D and GPS comes indoors
Ovi Maps needs no introduction, but having one of the best mapping services around doesn't mean Nokia is sitting around doing nothing. This week saw an exciting new 3D feature added to the mapping service allowing you to take a 3D bird's eye view of 20 cities around the world, while we got a sneak glimpse of a groundbreaking indoor positioning system that has exciting and far-reaching potential.
Nokia E6 and Nokia X7: What you need to know
The Symbian Anna-toting pair of the Nokia E6 and Nokia X7 have had everyone talking over the past week or so, and there's an awful lot to digest, from the Nokia E6's class-leading screen sharpness to the Nokia X7's rakish good looks. We focus on the most important details by dishing up the 10 things you need to know about both the Nokia E6 and the Nokia X7, plus we showcased what some other leading tech sites have to say about the Nokia X7.
Nokia N8: What you wouldn't change
It's been all change what with the fresh new look for Symbian^3 and a pair of exciting new smartphones, but the Nokia N8 remains a firm favourite, and this week we took time to share your views on what about the N Series standard-bearer you wouldn't change for the world.
Plus...
You'd think that after all that we wouldn't have had time left for anything else this week. But you'd be wrong, as we made sure to dish up the usual mix of reviews, tutorials and other added-value treats for all our favourite Nokias. We continued our focus on the Nokia E7 by reviewing its keyboard, then running the rule over the Ovi Maps Challenge Game, and looked at the CameraPro N8 app for the Nokia N8 and the Treasures of Montezuma 2 for the Nokia C5-03. Plus we continue to keep you up to date with tutorials to help you better use the Nokia handset you love.
And finally
We've certainly been talking a lot about the Nokia E7 in recent weeks, but now the first TV ad for the E Series powerhouse has just gone live in the UK. You can check it out for yourself over at Nokia UK Facebook – the theme of the ad is "success is what you make it", though with the Nokia E7 in your hands you do have a natural advantage!
It's all in a week's work for us here at NokNok, and hope you'll join us for another exciting week after the Easter break!
