The great and the good of the wireless industry gathered in Monaco last week for the WIMA conference, where Nokia announced plans to bring a host of NFC services to the Nokia C7. Want to know more about just what sort of apps and services are on the way? Well, thanks to a couple of videos straight from the WIMA show floor, now you can!

Nokia is no stranger to NFC, of course – in fact, it's been making phones compatible with the technology since 2005. But NFC looks set to kick into high gear in 2011, and Nokia C7 users will be right in the thick of the action just as soon as the Symbian Anna update heads out over the air.

Anna is the key that will unlock the Nokia C7's NFC capabilities, and there are all kinds of exciting new applications being lined up to take advantage of the possibilities NFC offers.

But don't take our word for it – check out the video below for an overview of some of the NFC-flavoured highlights that are on the way.

There are plenty of productivity-based utilities being lined up to plug into the Nokia C7's near-field smarts, but the technology has just as much to offer gamers too.

Enjoy a bit of Angry Birds action? Well, how about making it a social thing? Angry Birds developer Rovio was at WIMA to show off a new version of the mobile gaming sensation specifically geared up for NFC.

You get 20 levels to play through, but to progress beyond the first five levels you'll need to touch your NFC-enabled phone to a friend's, or touch your phone to a real-life NFC tag embedded in an everyday object.

“With Angry Birds Magic, friends can group together to combat the pig menace, in a new take on the game that so many people all over the world have fallen love with,” said Rovio's Mikael Hed.

“This is an exclusive offering with the Nokia C7, a smartphone that really kicks off the NFC experience for developers. In time, the communal power of users with Angry Birds Magic could prove even stronger than the Mighty Eagle.”

We can only hope! In the meantime, you can check out more on this NFC-flavoured Angry Birds release in the video below.
