ITN Royal Wedding app for Nokia C5-03 Review

With the biggest wedding of the year just a day away, taking a closer look at the Wills and Kate-themed ITN Royal Wedding app seemed the obvious way for our trusty Nokia C5-03 to mark the occasion. So join us as we run the Royal rule over this timely app.

There's certainly no shortage of attention being focused on the Royal Wedding, and the sheer scope of that attention is generally forcing people into one of two camps – those who can't seem to get enough, and those who have more than had enough.

As you'd expect, the ITN Royal Wedding app is aimed at the first bunch, but is restrained enough to appeal to the casual observer too – if there are any left, that is.

It's not an overly complex app, simply dishing up bite-sized video snippets related to the big event and of course the soon-to-be married couple themselves.

Being video-related, you're warned up front that your initial download will also involve a one-off download of up to 13MB of content (though in our case the total was actually only 9MB). Needless to say, if it's an option this is a good time to connect via Wi-Fi to a broadband network rather than using up your Nokia C5-03's precious data allowance.

Once all this is out of the way and you launch the application, you'll be met with a very simple interface. Your video content is divided into four tabs across the top of the screen – The Wedding, William, Kate and Royal Family.

Tap on any of these tabs and you'll be presented with a list of videos for the subject in question, with the most recent on top. Each time you launch the app, it checks for new videos to make sure you're kept in the loop with the latest news and gossip.

The videos themselves are slick and well produced – ITN is pretty experienced at this sort of thing, after all – and they're just the right length to be easily digestible on the move.

Our main grumble was an unexpected one – there's nothing but video to take in. While we've becoming pretty weary by now of all the endless reams of throwaway royal wedding-related rubbish we've been exposed to in recent weeks, we did find ourselves wishing for just a little additional content, such as family trees, wallpapers and the like.

But others will find the ITN Royal Wedding app just what they need to keep up to speed ahead of the big day. And with new content being added all the time, it could be an additional source of wedding goodness should the wall-to-wall coverage of the big day itself not be enough for you.

Noknok, can you make a comparison of C5-03 and C2-01? Thanks! Nice reviews btw. ;)
