Nokia Connection 2011: Will we see the new Nokia Windows Phones?
Nokia Connection is a huge event in the Nokia calendar every year, but this year’s promises to be even bigger than normal, as there’s every chance we’ll get our first glimpse of the nice shiny Windows Phone 7-powered Nokias the company’s been working on. Read on for more.
The invite-only Nokia Connection 2011 has been pencilled in for June 21 – that’s just three weeks from today – and will take place in Singapore. The theme for the this year’s event is “Unveiling the next chapter”, which on its own is enough to get us excited. But the official Nokia Connection 2011 homepage cranks up the anticipation several notches further by declaring this “an exciting time for Nokia! A solid strategy is in place and the execution of that strategy has started!
“Join Nokia Connection 2011 to experience first-hand, the new Nokia ecosystem that will be introduced to the world.” That, surely, can only mean Windows Phone 7, and given that Microsoft itself has just shown off the latest version of its OS in considerable detail, it looks like we’ll be getting a first look at the actual phones Nokia is lining up to carry its smartphone challenge forward. Taking a closer look at the programme, Nokia boss Stephen Elop is scheduled to talk about Nokia’s new strategy, including an update on the partnership with Microsoft.
Following Elop will be executive vice-president of mobile phones Mary McDowell, who is expected to unveil some exciting new Nokia mobile phones, including hopefully some Windows Phone 7 action. So with just three weeks to go until Nokia Connection 2011 kicks off, we’re sure you must be as excited as we are to hear what Nokia has in store.
