Virgin Atlantic Flight Tracker makes great sense if you fly to the US a great deal as it pulls together everything you're likely to need and makes getting from A to B that little bit easier.

The app itself only displays in Portrait mode but this isn't a problem on the 4-inch screen of the Nokia E7 as it means you can clearly view everything that's happening on the page. Running along the foot of the screen are five options: Menu, Globe, Check-in, Games and Other, with the bulk of the screen being handed over to an array of information.
The main screen is Menu which allows you to drill down into Flights, Check-in, Flying Club and V-Flyer. Tap on Flights and you can choose from Arrivals, Departures, Airborne Flights and Schedules. Tap any of these and once you've chosen which airport(s) you want to check you'll get real time updates.
Globe is exactly that, a graphic representation of the world with airplanes showing real time representations of flights happening around the world. Now, you're able to tap on the individual planes to get flight information and updates. Sadly, this didn't seem to be the case when we checked it out as it seems like a highly practical idea.
The same map structure is used for fun in the Games section, with a couple of globe based games, 'Where's Richard?' and 'Balloon Trip' both playing on the theme of Richard Bransons exploits. Don't expect too much in the way of skill or subtlety from the games but they do allow you to kill a few minutes down time without leaving the app.
More important is the Check-In feature that allows you to sail through the Virgin Atlantic check-in desk a whole lot easier. Other lets you fine tune the whole program, such as amend flight alerts and tap into Ovi Maps.
Virgin Atlantic Flight Tracker works in conjunction with the GPS in your Nokia E7 so can track which airport you're heading to. Should you need to open Ovi Maps you can easily do so from the app itself, which makes life a lot easier for the traveller.
If you're already a V-Flyer or a member of the Virgin Atlantic Flying Club then you need this app. We found that Virgin Atlantic Flight Tracker worked pretty quickly with very little delay or lag when pulling up real time information. If you fly between the UK and the US a great deal this is a great app to have on your Nokia E7 as it brings together everything you're likely to need.
