Android may be the current mobile OS flavour of choice, but a leading analyst firm says Nokia's involvement with Windows Phone 7 could give the Microsoft platform the momentum to overhaul Android in just two years. Join us after the cut for more.

Pyramid Research believes that while Windows Phone 7's growth thus far has been modest, and certainly no match for the huge swell in Android market share, that swell is now starting to level off and getting Nokia on board could be the key factor in swinging the balance of power the other way.

“We believe that Nokia and Microsoft are a very powerful tandem, and that will show in its full force by the end of 2013,” Pyramid analyst Stela Bokun revealed.

“Some of the main obstacles to the growth of WP to date will be removed, as Nokia helps with bringing down the price of WP smartphones. Lower price of the devices will be the crucial prerequisite for the expansion of WP models.

“Nokia knows it and Microsoft knows it, and I am sure they will act on it quickly.”

What do you think – is Nokia the silver bullet Windows Phone needs to take control of the smartphone market, or are we just wasting our time trying to predict what will happen so far into the future? Answers in the Comments please!
