Nokia Battery Monitor 1.3 on your Nokia E7 is a small but highly flexible app that allows you to see at a glance how much battery life your smartphone has. It also has statistics to show you where your battery life is going. We put it on our Nokia E7 but you could equally run it on your Nokia N8, Nokia C7 or Nokia C6-01. Check out our Nokia Battery Monitor 1.3 on Nokia E7 review for more details.

The Nokia E7 is a powerhouse smartphone with a 4-inch touchscreen and QWERTY keyboard. As the largest Symbian^3 device out there making sure it always has enough battery life to keep you active on the move should be a challenge.

Thankfully, Nokia Battery Monitor 1.3 is a small utility that lets you see how much juice you have left and lets you know which functions are sapping it from your system. It’s split into three screens: Estimates, Statistics and Info.

Nokia Battery Monitor 1.3 runs as an app but you can also set it up as a widget on your Homescreen and instantly see how much time your Nokia E7 has left. This is read both in term of percentage but also Active Usage Time in hours and minutes.

Info gives you general instructions on the app itself, as well as detailing what the other two tabs do.

Estimates acts as the homepage and gives you a breakdown of how long your Nokia E7 will run. A percentage tab that looks like a battery draining sits at the bottom, while above it tabs for Active Use, Talk, Web browsing and Music Playback, give you a rough idea of what you can expect. For example, with 84 per cent of battery life left on the Nokia E7 you can expect it to last 3 days 12 hours, or deliver 3 hours and 40 minutes of talk time, 4 hours of web browsing, or 1 day 8 hours of music playback.

Statistics is where the fun can be had as it shows you how exactly you’ve been using your Symbian^3 smartphone over the last seven days. Colour coded blocks, orange is talk, music is yellow, for example, shows you what you’ve been up to.

When it comes to the statistics on Nokia Battery Monitor 1.3, we found that 40 per cent of the time, we were using our Nokia E7 for the good old jibber-jabber, talking away with friends and colleagues. The next biggest culprit was just using the Homescreen and getting about taking up 20 per cent of battery, while just 4 per cent of the time was taken up listening to music.

What this allows you to do is to track how you’re using your Nokia E7 and look into ways to converse battery life. For instance, now we know we spend a great deal of time chatting, do we need the screen as bright as it is? Probably not, so we can tone it down and converse battery.

Nokia Battery Monitor 1.3 is a nice little way of keeping tabs on what your Nokia E7 is getting up to. It’s free and it’s a small download, so why not try it out?
