The Settlers HD+ has almost been waiting for the Nokia E7 to arrive as this kind of SIM game only truly works on a big screen like the 4-inch of the E7. The Settlers HD+ on the Nokia E7 is a port of the old desktop PC game that we have to admit looks fantastic on the 4-inch sharp and bright screen of the Nokia E7. If you’ve never come across the game before, it’s a SIM game where you can take on the challenge of leading your race, you can choose from Roman, Viking or Mayan to victory.

You do this by first raising your civilization to a state where it can look after itself, by gathering resources and food and building bigger and better homesteads. Once you’re pretty much self-sufficient you can start raising an army to go out, expand your territory via conquest. You have to be able to juggle resources, keep an eye on your borders and develop your internal growth all at the same time, which is something easier said than done.
Fortunately, the big screen of the Nokia E7 means the main playing screen isn’t cluttered and the graphics look amazing. If you want to get up close then the Zoom features work well, allowing you to get a nice eye-ball level of what’s going on.
Overall, we were seriously impressed with how sharp everything looked, courtesy of HD+ of course! The Settlers HD+ on the Nokia E7 isn’t a quick game, as each level can take several hours to master and then conquer but there is enough in the game to keep you coming back.
The touchscreen display works works, allowing you to move around easily. The only problem we encountered was when trying to place buildings as this proved a little awkward to do.
We have to admit, you either get SIM games like The Settlers HD+ or they’ll leave you cold and while this latest version isn’t going to win over any converts for those who loved the original games this is about the best experience you can get away from your PC screen.
