The Nokia N8 has proven great for battery life but we all like to know just how much juice we can expect from our smartphone. That's why Nokia has developed the Nokia Battery Monitor 1.3 app as it does exactly that. Find out more with our Nokia Battery Monitor 1.3 on your Nokia N8 review.
The Nokia N8 is a nicely balance smartphone that makes the most of its 3.5-inch screen, Symbian operating system and 12-Megapixel camera. However, knowing how much battery life can often be something of a 'guesstimate'. Nokia Battery Monitor 1.3 is a small utility that lets you see how much battery power you have left and even drills down into which functions have been drinking down your juice.

If you want to know how much battery life you have left at all times, Nokia Battery Monitor 1.3 can be set up as a widget on your Nokia N8 homescreen. This is read both in term of percentage but also Active Usage Time in hours and minutes. The Nokia Battery Monitor 1.3 app itself is split into three screens: Estimates, Statistics and Info. Info is essential, but least vital, as it gives you general instructions on the app itself, as well as detailing what the other two tabs do.
Estimates acts as the homepage and gives you a breakdown of how long your Nokia N8 has left to run before a recharge is in order. You'll find a percentage tab that looks like a battery slowly counting down sits at the bottom of the screen, while above it tabs for Active Use, Talk, Web browsing and Music Playback, give you a rough idea of what you can expect. For example, with 26 per cent of battery life left on the Nokia N8 we should really think about recharging the smartphone.
However, at a glance I can see that I can expect it to last 1 day 9 hours of Active USe, or deliver 2 hours and 10 minutes of talk time, 1 hour 10 minutes of web browsing, or 9 hours of music playback. Armed with this information I know I don't really need to start routing through may bag for the charger and will certainly see the rest of the day through with ease.
The next panel is Statistics, which shows you how exactly you’ve been using your Symbian^3 smartphone over the last seven days. Colour coded blocks, orange is talk, music is yellow, for example, show you what you’ve been up to. What this allows you to do is to track how you’re using your Nokia N8 and look into ways to conserve battery life. For instance, now we know we spend a great deal of time of the Ovi Store, do we need the screen as bright as it is? Probably not, so we can tone it down and converse battery. Nokia Battery Monitor 1.3 is a nice little way of keeping tabs on what your Nokia N8 is getting up to.
It’s free and it’s a small download, so why not try it out?
