We often talk about how seriously Nokia is about the environment and sustainable business practices. So it's no surprise to see Nokia dominating O2's list of most eco-friendly phones, headed up by the planet-loving Nokia C6-01 and Nokia E7.
The O2 Eco rating scheme is designed to give exposure to the UK's most sustainable mobile phones - sustainable not only in the materials used in the handset and packaging, but also the eco-friendliness of the manufacturing process. The scheme was launched last August to promote sustainable living through the network's products and services. The Eco rating awards each handset O2 carries a score out of five based on its environmental impact, how it helps people lead more sustainable lives, and the ethical performance of the manufacturer.
And Nokia clearly scores highly on all counts, as the Nokia C6-01 and Nokia E7 shared top spot in the ratings with a score of 4.1 out of 5. A group of four handsets shared second place with a score of 4, including the Nokia C7, meaning the C Series is officially Nokia's most eco-friendly line with two handsets placing in the top six.

"Although the environmental impact of a mobile phone may seem trivial when compared to say a car or fridge, when you consider the vast volumes of mobiles in circulation across the globe, their impact adds up," O2's head of devices Simon Lee-Smith commented. "We know more and more customers want this level of product transparency and we’re very grateful to the handset manufacturers for their engagement with Eco rating."
