In other words, there's no good reason not to have the latest version of S40 running on your Nokia smartphone. With that in mind, Nokia Support has just dished up a new video walkthrough showing you just how easy it is to check for and install updates on Symbian S40 phones, using the touchscreen Nokia X3-02 Touch and Type as an example.

Checking that your operating system is up to date takes less than a minute, and if an update is available, just a couple of on-screen taps is all it takes to download it. Symbian updates come “over the air” (or OTA), meaning the download and installation process is handled entirely by your Nokia phone itself.

That means you don't need to connect to a PC – though we would strongly advise downloading over a Wi-Fi network if possible to avoid eating through your phone's data allowance. So what are you waiting for – check out the video below and follow the simple steps to make sure your phone is right up to date with the freshest bake of Symbian S40.

Hello, in fact Symbian S40 doesn’t exist. This phone OS is Series 40 6th Edition, Feature Pack 1. This is a common mistake, but I really didn’t expect to see this mistake in a Nokia dedicated blog :)
