Updated Nokia Ovi Store on its way for Symbian^3 Nokia users
The Ovi Store is used daily by millions of satisfied Nokia users around the globe, and Nokia has just made the experience even better by rolling out an update to the online store for Symbian^3 users, such as the Nokia N8, Nokia E7, Nokia C7 and Nokia C6-01, bringing in some exciting new features. We reveal all after the jump.
Apps are a core part of the mobile experience these days, so of all the Ovi services Nokia provides to its users – and there are plenty of them – the Ovi Store is undoubtedly the most important.
How to use the Ovi Store on your Nokia N8
It’s a one-stop shopfront for all the latest Symbian apps and games, and the range of useful add-ons for your Nokia is simply staggering. And now the Ovi Store has been given even more appeal for Symbian^3 users thanks to a newly announced update which adds app notification updates and more relevant suggestions to the mix. On signing in to the Ovi Store, you’ll now be notified automatically if there’s a new version available for any of the apps you’ve purchased or downloaded. If so, you’ll see a little green flag in the top corner of the screen inside the Account button, along with a number showing you how many updates are available. Finding new apps has also become easier, with Nokia having tweaked the Top Free and Best Sellers list to be more device-specific.
A Symbian^3 app that’s proven particularly popular on handsets with a QWERTY keyboard, for example, will show up in lists for Nokia E7 users but not for Nokia N8 owners. Recommendations have been given the same treatment, with application suggestions now more closely reflecting what other users with the same phone are downloading.
The revamped Ovi Store will be heading out over the air to Symbian^3 users, with Nokia promising that the new features will be introduced more widely in due course. We’d love to hear back from you once you’ve given the new features a whirl.
Let us know what you think in the Comments below. In the meantime, you can find out more about the new features over on the Ovi Publish blog.
