We were quite excited when we came across Nokia Drop in the Nokia Beta Labs a couple of months ago, so we're pleased to report that there's a brand new version available ( Nokia Drop 1.1) with even more features and improved performance. Read on for all the details.
Nokia Drop allows you to instantly send images, links and the like from the web on your home PC straight to your Nokia mobile phone.
It comprises the Nokia Drop app on your phone and an associated plug-in for your PC's web browser. Put the two together and you'll be able to send any image you come across online straight to your phone to be used as a wallpaper, for instance, and that's just one way this versatile tool can be put to good use.
And now Nokia Drop is even better thanks to the introduction of a few new features and interface tweaks to both the Nokia Drop app itself and the associated web pages.
You can now choose how you want items received via Nokia Drop to be handled. Choose Automatically and the Nokia Drop app will remain dormant when a new item is incoming. Selecting Manually means you need to actively click on items listed by the Nokia Drop app for anything else to happen.
In addition, you can now use the service to send map views or address-centred maps from Ovi Maps. Received maps are opened directly in the Maps app on your phone, and are also saved to your Favourites folder.
RSS feed handling has been improved too, while subtle usability and user experience tweaks have been made to both the browser add-on and the Nokia Drop app itself.
With all these new features on board, we'd strongly recommend updating to the latest version of Nokia Drop by giving Beta Labs a visit, and don't forget to do your part by providing the developers with all-important feedback.
