It's Monday, and that means a chance to look back at a busy week in Nokia-land and the stories we've been talking about around the NokNok water cooler. Let's jump right in and take a closer look at this week's Nokia Nuggets.

Nokia boss Stephen Elop has already carved a name for himself as probably the most visible leader in the company's history, and last week he was in the public eye again at the Open Mobile Summit in London, talking extensively about Nokia, Windows Phone and the challenges and rivals they both face on their road to success.

Elop: the five pillars of ecosystem success

Elop was one of the keynote speakers at the Open Mobile Summit, and while there were no dramatic product announcements, he nonetheless had plenty of interesting things to say, revealing details of Nokia's five pillar approach to creating a third mobile ecosystem alongside iOS and Android, and revealing that the combination of Nokia and Windows Phone is proving to be a hot ticket for app developers.

Did Apple create Android?

Elop also gave us further insight into why exactly Nokia chose Windows Phone over Android – reasons that certainly make sense to us – and even had time to speculate that Android's success is actually Apple's doing, with the latter's walled garden approach having created the demand for a direct rival perceived as being more open. Interesting comments indeed!

Delving deeper into WP7

Back on Windows Phone, we continue to delve deeper into the 500-odd updates that are coming in the Mango update to the Microsoft OS, and explore what they mean specifically for Nokia users. Over the course of the week we took a closer look at the Skydrive cloud storage service, threaded messaging and music and video features.

Of course, once you've decided to take the plunge, there's another dilemma waiting for you: do you go for the Nokia X7 in dark steel or light steel?

And finally...

We often refer to some of the great devices that feature so prominently throughout Nokia's rich history of mobile success, but how capable are those former favourites at meeting today's needs?
