Nokia looks set to unveil a 'new market disrupting device' on June 21 as part of the Nokia Connection 2011 event in Singapore.

Invites for the event have been going out with very little information but it's been made clear this will simply be a product demonstration and that any questions should regard the hardware and features of the new device.

Back in February Stephen Elop, Nokia CEO, spelt out that the company would be working around three pillars of operation: smartphones, which are based on Windows Phone, the Next Billion, which are low cost devices aimed at connecting the world, and 'the next disruption' of which MeeGo was purported to be the first from the gate.

Nokia Connection 2011 is an annual event held in conjunction with CommunicAsia 2011. This year, Nokia Connection takes place on 21 June at the Marina Bay Sands in Singapore. The event is a showcase of the latest devices and services to customers, operators, media and analysts from the region. http://www.nokiaconnection.net/

I do believe it is the MeeGo device we’ve been waiting to see. The sad reality is that it will probably be a great phone, well received by phone geeks, but like the N900, it will not go mainstream and will not be noticed by the average user. It’s almost as though Nokia are hedging their bets by retaining MeeGo, but they’re afraid to really push it to see if it catches on. It will be interesting to see how much exposure the device really gets. The catch 22 is that the more exposure it gets, the more flak Nokia will get for juggling too many balls at once.

I simply hope that this device is released to the masses and not limited in availability

I think the next disruptive device was planned to be meego device. But Mr. Flop want to project the windows mobile device. So it will be a windows mobile phone. And the decision change also explains why their CTO’s(Meego head) recent long leave.

Or maybe it’s an N8/E7 upgrade with features superceding the established goodies the N8 has. For example, a bigger screen, optical zoom lens, more megapixel, kickoff stand, powerful xenon flashgun, NFC-ready, inductive charging capable, gyroscopic sensor, mini-projector, 32Gb internal storage (minimum), 1080p@30pfs, front/side stereo speakers, microSD XC.
