Here we are all bright-eyed and bushy-tailed at the start of another week, and that means it's time for a freshly baked batch of Nokia Nuggets to help ease you in.
Nokia is going through a period of unprecedented change at the moment, so it seems fitting that so many of the stories we covered last week were focused on the future. And it certainly looks to be a bright future too. Let's take a closer look.
The next disruption
Disruption technologies are one of the key cornerstones of Nokia's mobile strategy – innovations and developments that break the norm and challenge the status quo. So it's worth circling the date June 21 on your calendar, as that's when Nokia will unveil what it's calling “the next disruption”.
Windows Phone success story
Looking a little further ahead, research firm IDC has repeated its prediction that the combination of Microsoft and Nokia pulling in the same direction will provide Windows Phone with a huge boost, enough to overtake both iOS and BlackBerry OS by the year 2015.
Nokia's plan to crack the US market
If that springboard to success is to be achieved, however, Nokia will need to build a stronger position in the US, traditionally one of its weakest markets. Fortunately, Nokia boss Stephen Elop has a plan to turn things around and take on the might of Google Android in the process.
Nokia N8 to get special update
From the future to the present, and it looks like Christmas come early for Nokia N8 owners. This week we took a closer look at five reasons why the Nokia-Carl Zeiss partnership continues to go from strength to strength, while we also heard that Nokia N8 owners will be getting a special update on the back of Symbian Anna's arrival that will improve its video capabilities to a whole new level. And to round things off, we lifted the lid on some exciting features on the Nokia N8 you probably didn't even know were there.
Nokia E7 price drop
There's nothing like a price cut to give a mobile phone a fresh new injection of appeal, and this time around it's the Nokia E7 that benefiting, with Nokia having lopped off £30 off its asking price to leave it coming in at a freshly competitive £469.
And finally...
It's always great to see people taking on concepts and challenges that push boundaries and redefine the notion of what is possible. Well, that's just what Nokia has been doing over in Wales, attempting to take on the world record for the largest stop-motion animation video – all shot on a Nokia N8.
