The Nokia C2-03 Touch and Type with Nokia Maps on board is proof that “killer features” aren't only to be found on pricey high-end smartphones. Want to see this innovative new feature in action? Then you've come to the right place.
Nokia C2-03 Touch and Type: tech specs and official pics
The high-flying Nokia N9 was always going to dominate the headlines at Nokia Connection last week, but it was given a good run for its money from a plucky new face at the complete opposite end of the mobile spectrum.
The Nokia C2-03 Touch and Type is the third in the Touch and Type line, which combines a touchscreen with a traditional number pad to give you the best of both worlds on a single device.
But that's just half the story, as this Series 40 handset also comes with Nokia Maps pre-loaded – a first for Nokia and the kind of feature that's practically unheard of at such a low price point.
Nokia has sidestepped the lack of a GPS chip inside the Nokia C2-03 Touch and Type (a component that would have driven its price up considerably) by relying instead on basic mobile triangulation, and all local maps are already pre-loaded, so you don't need a mobile data connection to get started.
It's a great idea well executed, and Nokia was on hand in Singapore to run through its features in a video walk-through.
