Based on the first instalment of author Stieg Larsonís compelling trilogy, Girl with the Dragon Tattoo is the big-box office Hollywood remake of the 2009 original version starring Noomi Rapace at Lisbeth Salander and Michael Nyqvist as leading man and journalist Mikael Blomkvist. Whether or not it needed a remake is up for debate, we loved the original version, for what it's worth!

If you need to know the plot then Journalist Mikael Blomkvist is aided in his search for a woman who has been missing for forty years by Lisbeth Salander, a young computer hacker. Itís a little more complicated than that, Lisbeth is seen as anti-social and works outside the law, while Blomkist works for a magazine that has a political agenda all its own. The novel is a taut drama that plays out at a fast pace.

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo movie takes many of the themes and while the original is a no-holds barred portrayal we canít tell too much from the trailer for the remake whether director David Fincher, best known for Fight Club and more recently The Social Network, has kept the most brutal scenes intact. We guess we'll find out when Girl with the Dragon Tattoo launches later this year.

We downloaded Girl with the Dragon Tattoo on to our Nokia N8 using Wi-Fi, itís not a huge download but itís quicker that way. We were a little disappointed to see the trailer resolution doesn't fill that of the 3.5-inch screen, playing in a window instead. The trailer doesn't give too much away but it does help set the scene.
