The Nokia E6 is the latest QWERTY smartphone from Nokia and is aimed at business-types on the go. The Nokia E5 is a mid-range QWERTY device, ideal for those with busy social networking skills. Here we take a look at the keyboard differences of both devices.

The Nokia E6 is a high-end smartphone with a 2.46-inch touchscreen display. Running Symbian Anna and built from a full metal jacket with glass screen, it's the most impressive QWERTY smartphone on the market today.

By contrast, the Nokia E5 comes with a 2.36-inch non-touchscreen display and runs the Symbian S60 3rd Edition operating system, which means you've access to thousands of apps on the Nokia Ovi Store to personalise and really make this handset your own.

Both being QWERTY devices we thought it would make sense to check out the typing skills of these devices. The first thing you notice about the keyboard on the Nokia E5 is how much straighter it is than that of the Nokia E6. Whether that's an ergonomic design on the E6 or not we don't know but in reality both keyboards tend to take up the same amount of space on their respective device.

The Nokia E5 and Nokia E6 share the same 37-key layout design, with the middle buttons also doubling up as numeric keys for phone calls and the like. The big difference in terms of design is that the Nokia E6 keys have a small bezel around each key, you can see this most clearly in the corners. While you may think this makes for a smaller key you'll find they're is just as much space for your thumbs as with the Nokia E5.

In comparison the round-top keys of the Nokia E5 lack this slight bezel, so the keys go right up to the edge, so almost kissing the keys adjacent. This isn't so much a problem, it's more a case that you'll find yourself typing with the tip of your thumb rather than the flat, at least that's what we've found.

    est touchscreen qwerty combo
I recently bought the NOKIA E6 and have to say that its all I wanted from a combination touchscreen and qwerty. The Symbian Anna OS is very responsive and precise, the browser is superb and easy to input URL address, save bookmarks and scroll between open pages
