Moto X Mayhem is a dirt bike trial game that makes the most of the accelerometer in your Nokia Symbian^3 smartphone. We've been checking it out on our Nokia N8 and found it a fun but challenging game. Check out our Moto X Mayhem review on Nokia N8.
Moto X Mayhem is one of those growing trend of smartphone games that exude playability over a need for cutting-edge graphics. Like Dalton: The Awesome and Doodle Jump, it's a game that needs quick wits and a modicum of skill to make the most of it.
In Moto X Mayhem you're a dirt bike rider who needs to get from one end of the track to the other. As soon as you land the timing starts to tick and you need to see how far you can travel before you come a cropper. Believe us when we say that you'll grow accustomed to falling off and landing in some truly awful places.
Basically, Moto X Mayhem gives you a rolling background, which is nice and low in terms of graphic needs, while the rider on the bike moves in all manner of directions. The fluidity of the bike is nice and we have to admit there are some nice wincing moments when you fall off and come a cropper under the wheels, or land on your head!
In the Lite version you get access to a single race course, Bear Island, while the full version, which only costs £1.00, gives you five full race courses for you to test out. We've been playing it for a couple of days and there is definitely a knack to getting the best from Moto X Mayhem.
The controls are simple but effective. Push the right-hand side of the screen to accelerate and the left to brake. You manoeuvre the weight of the bike by moving your Nokia N8, with the idea being that tilting forward and backwards helps you to steady the bike.
Just to show how addictive this game is, Nokia has set up a competition to find the best Moto X Mayhem player out there. If you're good enough you can even lay claim to the $5000 worth of prizes. Find out more about the Moto X Mayhem comp here.
