If you're in the market for a new smartphone, it makes sense to go for the newest technology possible, and in Nokia's case that's the Symbian Anna trio of the Nokia E6, Nokia X7 and the Nokia 500. So how do they stack up side by side? Let's take a look.

Symbian Anna is the latest evolution of the Symbian platform, and while it'll soon be heading out over the air to existing Nokia Symbian^3 devices such as the Nokia N8 and Nokia E7, it's already present and correct on the Nokia E6 and Nokia X7, and will be on board the newly announced Nokia 500 when it touches down in the next couple of months.

But while they share an operating system, this trio of devices offer very different things, and are suited to different users. Here's a quick run-down of their credentials to help you decide which Symbian Anna handset is right for you.

Nokia E6

The Nokia E6 is first and foremost a business phone, and breaks new ground by being the first smartphone on the market to find space for both a full QWERTY keyboard and a capacitive touchscreen on its front surface. Throw in a decent chunk of on-board storage and a powerful processor, and you've got a good business phone all-rounder. But it has a few other tricks up its sleeve too that go beyond the basic business brief, such as an 8-megapixel camera and the ability to record HD video clips.

The Nokia X7's other strengths include its 8-megapixel camera and HD video capabilities, making it the ultimate multimedia workhorse.

Nokia 500

The Nokia 500 is the first of a whole new breed of Nokia phone, and is targeted squarely at the first-time smartphone buyer. Yet despite it's ultra-competitve price point, you still get an impressive specification, with a powerful 1GHz processor leading the way. Its compact 3.2-inch screen size makes it distinctly pocketable, and it comes with a pair of interchangeable battery covers in the box so you can adjust your phone's appearance to suit your mood.
