We've been focusing a fair bit on the Nokia N8's 12-megapixel camera of late, and today we continue the trend by showcasing some stunning black and white shots taken using the Nokia N8 by the Nokia community. Read on for more!

5 reasons why the Nokia N8 is still the best camera smartphone in the world

Over the past year or so the Nokia N8 really has established itself as the best cameraphone in the business. By refusing to cut corners and by following traditional principles of using high-quality optics and mechanical components, it's created a new generation of mobile photographers who are able to produce genuinely impressive photos using nothing but their Nokia N8.

We've seen some incredible aerial photos, we've seen the world's biggest stop-motion animated video, and now we're showcasing the Nokia N8 turning its hand to another classic photographic technique: black and white photography.

A good many cameraphones offer a black and white shooting option – it's a simple digital effect to achieve, after all – but black and white is an unforgiving medium that highlights sub-standard quality rather than hiding it away.

A top-quality black and white shot is all about mood and texture, and manages to tell a story in a way that the same shot in colour could never do.

The Nokia Nseries Blog has pulled out five of their favourite black and white snaps taken using a Nokia N8, and we have to say – we're fans of all five. We've partially reproduced one of them above, but we'd encourage you to check out the full shot as well as the other four snaps in the original post, and to vote for your favourites.

Have you tried black and white photography using your Nokia N8? Why not give it a go and post your snaps online for other Nokia users to enjoy?
