Nokia's Ovi Store is growing fast. Nokia has just announced that the apps, games and multimedia store for Nokia phones is now serving up an impressive 9 million downloads every day. Read on for the details.

It wasn't that long ago that we were proudly talking about 6 million downloads a day, but it's safe to say that the Ovi Store has really kicked on since then, as Nokia users continue to take advantage of the rich ecosystem of added-value content for their phones.

Nokia's senior vice president of developer & marketplace Marco Argenti broke the news of the latest milestone via Twitter yesterday: “@marcoargenti Nice to see @Nokia #Store hitting 9m downlaods/day and climbing.”

9 million downloads a day is impressive enough, but what is perhaps more impressive is the rate of growth. Last month the average was 7.62 million per day and as recently as June it was just (just!) 6 million daily downloads.

One reason for the climb is probably the decision to allow downloads of free content without having to go through the Ovi Store's secure login system, making impulse grabs of freebies much more spontaneous. Estimates put the total downloads since the Ovi Store's launch in 2009 to be around 2.1 billion.

Symbian eco system is open and there are tons of sources to download from. the exact number of downloads probably much more than that 2.1 billion.
