How big is the Symbian Anna difference for you?

The Symbian Anna update has now landed on the Nokia N8, Nokia E7, Nokia C7 and Nokia C6-01, but does one of them benefit more than the others from the OS upgrade? Now that Symbian Anna is here we can start looking for the answers.

Nokia N8, Nokia E7, Nokia C7 or Nokia C6-01: where does Symbian Anna make the biggest difference?

Symbian Anna lifts provides a welcome step forward for all four of Nokia's Symbian^3 smartphones, introducing attractive new icons, an improved web browser, and a host of other tweaks and new features.

But there are subtle variations to just what the update brings to each handset. The Nokia C7, for instance, sees its Near Field Communication (NFC) capability activated, while the Nokia N8's video capabilities have been given a boost.

The Nokia E7, meanwhile, has a slide-out keyboard, so the portrait-style QWERTY on-screen keyboard is less of a win than on its touch-only brethren, and the Nokia C6-01 is the most affordable of the four, so arguably the new features make the biggest difference.

But as the dust settles, we'd have to give our vote to the Nokia C7. The NFC infrastructure is growing all the time, and Symbian Anna puts the Nokia C7 right at the forefront of the action.

From your own comments so far it seems you agree, but now that you've got Symbian Anna up and running, we'd love to hear from you just how big a step forward Symbian Anna is for you. Let us know in the Comments below.

    faster email
    useful home screen
    search widget is amazing
    icons look really fresh
    maps are better

anna rocks, now, where’s my belle :)

I would say the portrait qwerty is more of a win for the E7, there are times it’s more convinient to quickly tap out a short message whithout switching orientation and sliding the keypad out, and with the E7′s large screen the new portrait qwerty is perfect!

    WHAT IS NFC..?

Loving it so far , web browsing is faster, emails too..

the only downside so far is why they made all the font colors on the widgets the same…… and there is no way to customize or change….

I think the N8 is a fantastic piece of kit and has been made even better with the Anna update. The overall look and feel of the N8 is better.

I was sad to see that quickoffice and acrobat reader have gone. These are useful for reading email attachments when out and about.
(It doesn’t look like the 30fps video was included in the Anna update – see Nokia beta labs)

Take at look at this article we did on NFC, tell you all you need to know: http://noknok.tv/2011/04/26/nfc-explained-what-you-need-to-know/

I am happy once more; it turns out once you have run the Anna update, you have extra updates to run 1/2 and 2/2. These include quick office, pdf reader and nokia communicator.

    Looking forward to Belle :)

I’m using an N8-00 (I’m from the U.S. but currently overseas) and I still haven’t received the update yet! I’ve been through the Ovi Suite, the Nokia Software Updater and through the phone itself via wifi and keep getting nothing.

I’m jealous of everyone’s talk about Anna — I’d just love to be part of that conversation!

Yes I agree that anna in most ways is a superior improvement in nearly all aspects, however there is a major issue with the battery life – has dropped drastically to max 12-17 hours with minimal usage. A lot of background operations are the source of this drain – cant access this to try and sort it out – any help, the usual tips of WLAN settings, widgets offline, screen light, and other battery saving tips all tried out, but for similar conditions the post anna N8 battery has dropped from 2-3 days to 12-17 hours???

im using both N8 and E7 . the E7 update went perfect and the only thing im suffering from is using the Bluetooth headset . it takes lots of time to communicate with it and hangs allot .
the otyher thing is that i updated the N8 while using the Nokia bubbles and now the Ovi doesn’t work and lots of apps too .
the dealer also doesnt have a solution for it
