If you had to make a list of 'unsung hero' apps for the likes of the Nokia N8 or Nokia E7, there's no question JoikuSpot would be near the top of the list. Well, the Symbian Anna update brings some interesting news regarding our favourite Wi-Fi hotspot app. Read on for the details.
Nokia N8 Ovi Store App: JoikuSpot Light WiFi Hotspot Review
Sometimes the simple apps that do a single job well are the best, and so it is with JoikuSpot. It turns your Nokia smartphone into a mobile Wi-Fi hotspot, allowing you to connect your laptop, for instance, to your phone's 3G internet connection and surf the web.
The beauty of JoikuSpot is that it's pretty much as simple to set up as we've described it above, and the Light version has been a free download for Symbian^3 devices for a while now.
But now we have Symbian Anna, of course, and not only is the JoikuSpot app now compatible with all new Symbian Anna phones, including the forthcoming Nokia 500, but Joiku have had a quiet word with Nokia and the Premium version of the JoikuSpot app – normally £8 from the Ovi Store – will be shipping as standard on new Nokia E6 handsets, while the Light version will be pre-installed on new and factory firmware upgraded Nokia E7 handsets too.
In addition, Nokia E5, Nokia E52 and Nokia E72 are also being given access to the Premium version of the app free of charge “as a gift” if you download via your phone's Ovi client, so we'd make a move and download it now if we were you before Joiku changes its mind!
