Another milestone has been reached as we count down towards the first Nokia Windows Phone officially seeing the light of day: Windows Phone Mango itself is now officially finished. Read on to find out more.
Developers give Nokia and Windows Phone the thumbs up
We've already come a long way towards seeing the first Nokia Windows Phone touching down in the six months since the partnership with Microsoft was first announced back in February.
Yet all that time we've been aware that the final finished product would be the result not only of Nokia working to put together a class-leading piece of mobile hardware, but of course of Microsoft too in finishing the Windows Phone Mango operating system it's going to run.
All the noises we've heard so far from Nokia have reassured us that things are running on schedule from its side, but now we have official confirmation from Microsoft that there won't be a hold-up from the Windows Phone side either.
Microsoft's director of mobile business in the Nordic countries, Peter Wissinger, has gone on the record to confirm (via WinMobile.se's translation): “Now it’s up to our manufacturing partners to release Mango to our customers. Microsoft has delivered complete Mango earlier than planned to the manufacturers. Feels good now.”
In itself, this tells us nothing about the first Nokia Windows Phone itself, of course. But it does provide another reassurance that everything is running firmly on schedule and we can still expect to see the first Windows Phone-powered Nokia released before the end of the year.
