The Ovi Store is jam-packed with all kinds of clever and complicated apps, but there's nothing at all wrong with apps that do a simple job – if they do it well. Does Call Reminder Notes fit the bill on Symbian S60 5th Edition handsets such as the Nokia C5-03? Read on to find out.

The Nokia C5-03 already has a Notes utility tucked away in the Office folder, and it certainly has its uses. But Call Reminder Notes' unique appeal is its ability to tag notes onto contacts in your phonebook. So, for example, if a friend borrowed your favourite book a few months back and you keep forgetting to ask for it back, you can pin a reminder note to their phone book entry and it'll pop up on screen the next time an incoming or outgoing call is made to that person.

It's one of those ideas that makes more sense the longer you think about it, and one you can adapt to suit various uses. Reminder notes can by pinned to multiple contacts or just a single person, and will automatically be removed once you've spoken to them – though not if you reject or miss a call from that person.

The interface is basic and uncluttered, which is exactly how it should be, and there's no real learning curve to master here – it's a straightforward app that serves a single purpose.

At present the Lite version is free on the Ovi Store for a limited time, and while we might have to think twice about endorsing it as a paid app, as a free download Call Reminder Notes goes about its business well and is well worth downloading.
