Is Nokia NFC the real highlight of Symbian Belle?

The big news this week is of course the unveiling of Symbian Belle, Nokia’s next-generation OS update that follows Symbian Anna. And there’s no question that NFC is going to be one of the stars of the show. NFC explained: what you need to know

Nokia has been one of the leading forces behind the development of Near Field Communication (NFC) technology for years now, and was producing NFC-enabled mobile phones before many other mobile manufacturers even existed.

But while the theory behind NFC has been on solid ground for some time now, it’s really only in the last year or so that actual real-world applications for the technology have started to come to the forefront.

In Symbian Belle, NFC graduates from being a niche technology with potential, to being a central part of some of the biggest innovations we’ll be seeing from the next generation of Nokia smartphones, starting with the newly announced Nokia 600, Nokia 700 and Nokia 701.

Nokia has put together a short video to give you a glimpse of some of these exciting innovations in action, so hit Play below and enjoy – and feel free to give us your thoughts on Nokia’s NFC-based innovations in the Comments below.
